Presently, Raipur has emerged out as the largest commercial market of the newly formed state Chhattisgarh and earned its place as the State Capital. Spread across 226 sq. kms, this city is known as India’s largest steel market. It boasts of rich number of steel, iron, plywood, and agro-industrial plants. With the population of 10,10,087, Raipur has observed a substantial economic growth, making its way into the list of fastest growing cities of the Country due to continuous efforts by the governing civic body. Raipur Municipal Corporation, the body responsible for the administrative management of the city, was ranked 6th out of 21 Cities for best governance & administrative practices in India in 2014.
Raipur has become the educational hub of Central India due to the presence of many institutes of National importance in Engineering, Management, Medical, and Law. It is the only city in India which is home to IIM, NIT, AIIMS, Hidayatullah National Law University, and IIIT. IIT Chhattisgarh is proposed at Bhilai which is 30 km from Raipur. There are further, more than 20 Engineering colleges and other leading colleges along with several premium schools in the city.
When it comes to the entertainment, Raipur has it well covered. It has amusement/water parks, Chowpatty, waterfronts, Science centers, Marine Drive, zoo etc for the people to escape from their everyday lives. A few km away from Raipur, we have the famous – Jungle Safari.
